Top 5 Essential Holiday Album Titles

[ 0 ] December 2, 2010 |

The snow has started to fly, and it’s now December. You know what that means – Christmas songs! And lots of ‘em. Put in your favorite holiday album and check out this list of essential tunes every household needs for a holly jolly Christmas.

Bing Crosby – White Christmas

First, let’s start out with more classic holiday music. Nothing says old school holiday like a little Bing. Set the tone for a warm gathering with his mellow voice, and start making memories! White Christmas is also the perfect album for any party with grandmothers and great aunts. They may not have the full appreciation for the next album that you do.

New Kids on the Block – Merry Merry Christmas

Feeling Nostalgic about the 90s?  I know I am, especially after that performance on the AMAs (video). So in my sack of goodies (or rather in the dusty box at the back of the closet), I found this little gem. All women between the ages of 25 and 40 remember listening to this over and over and over. And I wish you and yours a funky, funky Christmas.

Christmas Eve on Sesame Street

My brother and I actually wore out this album by playing it too much on our Fisher Price record player. Christmas on Sesame Street not only has wonderful and touching songs, it teaches kids about the true meaning of Christmas. The songs are totally sing-able too and will keep with you all through the year.

Christmas with Boney M

O-M-G. This is one of my all-time favorite albums. I honestly can’t remember a Christmas without this music. From the band that brought you Rasputin, this holiday must-have offers a little bit of disco, a little reggae and a lot of heart. One listen and you’ll be addicted – even if you didn’t grow up listening to it.

Jingle Cats

Oddly enough, this horrific album actually sold. Like, people actually have this in their homes. Not sure what Jingle Cats is? Check it out here, but leave your finger on the pause button for a quick escape. Why would an album like this be on an essentials list? It’s essential for giving your guests the hint it’s time to go home.

So, now you’re armed with the must-have albums of the season. Something for the grandparents, something for you and something for…well…there’s also Jingle Cats.
