The Best Holiday Make Up Tutorials on YouTube

[ 0 ] December 8, 2010 |

There are several reasons why I love the holidays: lit-up houses, decorated trees, the smell of ginger-bread baking, old Christmas songs… But what I really look forward to is what’s hot in holiday makeup at beauty stores. A lot of what I see is icy winter makeup that’s shimmery and fun.

Colors like gold, green and red aren’t just for the tree, you know. But you could end up looking like a ginger-bread woman gone wrong if you overdo it…so I’ve fine combed YouTube tutorials that show you how to apply holiday eye makeup, lipsticks and more to complete your look. Enjoy!

Look #1: Dramatic Party Eyes

I’m always wary of using dark colors on my lids because it can easily look overdone. That’s why I really appreciate this video by Michelle Phan. She explains how to draw an outline of where the dark and glittery shadow should stop. Then you just color your lids in like in a coloring book! The end result of this look is fabulous – every time you blink, your lids glitter for a flirty look. This look is great for evenings or parties – clearly not for the office.

Look #2: Sultry & Sophisticated

I love that most products used in this tutorial can be purchased at your local drugstore, making this look super affordable for frugal divas like me. Also, the colors xteeener uses are amazing for making brown eyes pop. I have brown eyes so I really appreciate this! This look is sultry and sophisticated at the same time so it can be worn for work or evenings.

Look #3: Winter Wonderland

This look takes my breath away. MichellePhan looks like a snow princess. It’s so fresh and breathtaking – a fun Winter Wonderland makeup look that’s perfect for holiday parties or a New Year’s bash. The snowflake she draws in at the bottom of her eye is optional, of course.

Look #4: Shimmery Holiday Glam

The faux lashes really complete this fun and flirty look. MissChievous blends golds and greens for shimmery holiday glam. And because she drags the green powder out a bit at the corners of her eyes, her peepers look instantly bigger, which helps people like me with beady eyes. Adding the gold glitter and liner at the end makes the look ideal for a party or evening look. But if you’d like this look for work, then simply add some thin black eyeliner and skip the gold glitter, and you’re set!
