If your gal or guy loves diving between words of imagination and abandoning all sense of reality, the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite might just be the perfect gift for book lovers.
And as I’m writing this post, it’s almost Valentine’s Day. Now, you might think that a Kindle eReader isn’t a very romantic gift. But you’d be wrong. Giving a present that caters to your loved one’s interest shows that you’re considerate and you pay close attention to his or her likes. It could get you lots of brownie points.
(But tread carefully though. Some book lovers out there swear by paperbacks and hardbacks. Make sure your recipient is opened to the idea of an eReader. It’ll help you avoid having conversations that start with: “Are you suggesting I get rid of all my precious books? Do you not know me at all?”)
The Kindle Paperwhite by Amazon has garnered lots of respect from people in the industry. There is a consensus on the minuses that includes lack of memory slot for expansion, no included AC adapter and no text-to-speech function. But there are lots of positives, such as:
- No-glare reading outside, has built-in light for reading at night
- Holds up to 1100 books
- Thinner than a pencil & weighs 7.5 oz
- Great contrast with crisp text
- Good battery life
- Wi-Fi capabilities
Amazon has the Paperwhite priced at $119 (with Special Offers displays that don’t interrupt reading). You can also get the 3G option at $179. Both are available with Free Super Saver shipping.
What do you think of eBooks versus books you can hold in your hand? Would you ever buy an eReader?
