5 Things to Love About November 2010

[ 1 ] November 4, 2010 |

November can be a pretty ho-hum month. Halloween is over, and so begins the colder, slushier, darker winter months. Thanks a lot, November.

But wait! November has a few treats up his sleeve, so don’t turn your back on him yet! There’s Thanksgiving fun and, of course for you shopoholics, Black Friday (bookmark our Black Friday coupons!). Plus, we’ve pulled out 5 things to get excited about this November. Ready?

1. The Release of Barnes & Noble NOOKcolor eReader

Ships November 19th. There’s something mildly dull about the black and grey eReaders out there, so Barnes & Noble is injecting some color into the market with this color touch screen. Plus, while others are 6″, this boasts a 7″ screen. The NOOKcolor is perfect for fashion magazines and colorful kids’ books. $249 at Barnes & Noble. Use our Barnes & Noble coupons to save. Rather buy another eReader? See how the rest compare.

2. Harry Potter & the Deathly Hollows

Premieres November 19th. O-M-G. For the past 10 years, we’ve become seriously obsessed with J.K. Rowling’s stories of these wizards of Hogwarts, and it comes to an end (or rather half of an end) in November. As the trailer says, it truly is the end of an era. Although we’ll all have to wait until July to get the real ending, this will definitely tide us over till then. And if you want to see it the first day, you should probably go get in line. Like, now.

3. Movember

All month. What’s the best way to raise awareness about men’s health issues? Why, grow a mustache, of course! Started by some gents from Adelaide, Movember is a chance to get involved with local charity events and, of course, growing a sweet ‘stache. What are you going with? Walrus? Hungarian? Or perhaps the Horseshoe? Check out printable mustaches, too!

4. The Release of XBOX Kinect

November 4 (today!). Where other consoles use a kind of controller that you have to hold onto while you jump around, Kinect uses just you. This machine responds to your body movements for gameplay that makes you an active part of the game – not to mention it’s a form of exercise. Or at least that’s what you can tell people when you get addicted and play it for hours on end. $399 from Amazon. Use our Amazon coupons to save.

5. New Michael Jackson Album

A Mystery! In a relatively new deal with Sony Music Entertainment, the Jackson camp is releasing a new, as-yet-untitled Michael Jackson album featuring 10 new songs. In fact, Jackson fans can look forward to about 10 new projects over the next 7 years. Thrilling!

November, what awesome treats you have. These are just a few reasons why we’ll forever remember this November. What about you? Anything you’re looking forward to this month?
