Whether you love or hate it, Summer is here! And with the sweltering heat comes the desire to get fit for those short shorts and tank tops… at least that’s the case for me.
That’s why yoga is one of the many exercises I now do weekly. I’m just starting out, and I didn’t want to buy any yoga products initially. But I’ve now found out how necessary some items are!
Rest assured: you don’t need to spend a lot of money for the activity, but there are a few essential yoga products that I recommend. You’ll practice yoga more safely and effectively this way.
Here is my list of must-have yoga products for beginners.
Make sure you cushion up the floor! You don’t need the mat to be super thick to avoid aches, but if you also do floor exercises for your abs, opt for a thicker mat to protect your tailbone. This YogaAccessories 1/4″ Yoga Mat is affordable and does the trick.
Available at Amazon for $18.85
Sometimes you need to modify your moves because you’re not flexible enough yet. And for beginners, foam yoga blocks are great because they’re inexpensive ways to shorten the distance between you and the floor. The pictured Recycled Yoga Block by Gaiam is available as a set of 2 or individually.
Available at Gaiam for $11.98
At first, I thought gloves were gimmicky, but they’re not! They provide extra cushioning for your hands in addition to the yoga mat. Plus, Gaiam’s Super Grippy Yoga Gloves have a traction design, so you don’t slip and slide everywhere. It’s a much safer way to do yoga.
Available at Gaiam for $16.98
And of course, a water bottle for hydration and towel to wipe off the sweat from all your hard work.
Are you a yoga beginner or expert? What products do you recommend?
